Quince preserved, jellied and pasted....

Pasted???? is that even right???

Sorry for the lack of posts but my camera cord is broken and I really am unable to upload to the laptop (any suggestions please sing out!!!) and so it seems a bit funny to just write without photos...

Anyway tonight the girls went off to the footy with family and friends and I had the run of the house (must get used to saying apartment) and it was time for me to catch up on kitchen capers. The quince were really waiting for me to get into action so finally I did and in a big way... well three ways that is, first preserved in my trustee Fowlers Vacola preserving "thing", then I cut some up and made a paste and I dare not waste the skin, pips and bits because they all went into a pot with water and sugar to make jelly. I almost thought I could make a cordial too but exhaustion got the better of me and really I did not have THAT many quince.

So now I wait for everything to cool a little then I can store it all away. The quince paste will take a week or so to set and then I can wrap that up and label/tag it. I do have some lovely tags my dear friend gifted me last year and I might just use them and return the favour by giving her some paste.

I hope I can get some pictures tomorrow and somehow upload them to show you. I will miss the sweet perfume the quince have delighted me with these past few weeks sitting on my coffee table but I will enjoy eating them too... Perhaps a little bit of the jelly as my liquid for a few cupcakes or even in the icing perhaps... yum...

Pink and pretty is all I see in the jars in my kitchen, such glee!!! Ahhh a poet to boot!!

Perhaps the lovely Jackie would like some of my spoils for all her talents helping me photograph my cupcakes, in order to update my website... lookout Jackie, I am coming your way!!!

Vida, your cupcake website is looking ten times better to begin with and a lot more enticing. You should add a link to your cupcake website right at the top of your blog so people can access it easily. I had dig through your posts to find the link.

The cable for your camera should just be a standard mini usb cable. You will probably have another cable in the house if you have an mp3 player which usually comes with the cable. Otherwise, you can take the memory card out of the camera and use a card reader. It's way more convenient and doesn't drain the camera battery.

Thanh, you are great... we have two cameras with two broken cables. Drives me insane. I will try the usb cords as you said and the memory card thing too, thanks heaps. As for the link you are so right I will put it all on now. Vida x

Hello, you left a comment on my blog looking for a certain cupcake paper thingy. Alas I know nothing about cupcakes (Unless devouring them counts). But I'm happy to discover your delicious looking blog!

I'll be back (but not when on a diet)!

Vida, hi! Don't worry about the paper case getting wet. It's completely normal... just wait for a few more days and when you pull the paper case and can see that the preserve it's not sticking to it anymore, you're already to go! If you have any more doubts please ask me! And I can wait to see those pictures :)

Thanks Isa, I am getting a new cord for my camera and should be able to put up photos soon. The jelly looks beautiful with the rich red colour of the long cooked quince! Vida x

Oohhh Vida, isn't that such a pretty cupcake picture at your top right! hehehe
Glad the quince turned out, the thing I should have also mentioned is that sometimes it can take a while to properly set in the fridge... no idea why. I made some jelly, last week and at first i thought it was going to become a syrup, but then a couple of days later it was set. Bizare.
Looking forward to the quince pictures, and seeing the updated website!!

Hey Jackie, I think that photo is my favourite!!! My jelly is firmish and looks like it will definately set. Seems syrupy now but I see by your comment that it is early stages and all good. I am getting a new cord under the warranty for my camera too so it's all coming along nicely. You were brilliant the other day and I truly appreciate your help, I learnt a lot!!!! Vida x

Gloria, thank you. I really LOVE quinces... I think they are delicious and their smell makes me go to heaven!! They will make a nice apple and quince crumble, the weather is cold her so it is perfect time to have a warm desert. Vida x
