Bloggers Night Out...

We Aussie bloggers got together last night thanks to Ed from http://www.tomatom.com/ who organised it. It was fabulous to see faces we had never seen but imagined in our cyber minds. These were my meagre contributions... it was quite a feast had last night... people were extremely generous and very talented...

These are haloumi cheese parcels, haloumi with some greek oregano and a little strip of chilli wrapped in roasted red capsicums and tied with chives, a drizzle of lemon and I think they were good, I didn't get a chance to try any as they went quickly... I am proud to say there were none left so I hope they were enjoyed...

My chocolate sour cream cake was enjoyed by Sarah http://www.sarah-cooks.blogspot.com/, VERY thrilling because she is a great baker...
Goats cheese pizza with roasted eggplant, pinenuts and chocolate balsamic sauce was all eaten up too... I was extremely nervous and almost left my food hidden in my basket when I saw what was on offer... But I am glad I got up the courage to put it all out and share it with everyone...

I have only posted what I brought as I imagine everyone wants to show their own food.. I thoroughly enjoyed the fabulous pizzas, the glorious macaroons, muffins with walnut topping were to die for, macaroni with cheese that was delicious and presently in the cutest way... barramundi that smelt like heaven.... Ed's decadent chocolate and banana pizza, yum... there was so much food and it was all delicious...

I loved meeting you all and I especially thank you Ed for allowing us all to meet and enjoy a great night in a fabulous place...

I don't do the night justice with my explanations but check out Ed's sight for the names of those who attended and their blogs will give details too and Ed has posted 100 photos from everyone's cameras onto Flicker...

Vida, I'm very glad you plucked up the courage to bring out your haloumi parcels and pizza - I thought they were delicious! The eggplant pizza (with special sauce) was my favourite savoury dish of the night.

Now I know you don't work, I have not had this post up for more than a second... hehehe... THANK YOU so much for you compliments, it was such a pleasure to meet you... I really was nervous and you were like a soft safe place to be beside!! You must come to dinner one day with Michael and we can have a drink on the balconey and talk our heads off, I am more relaxed in my own environment. Now get back to work!!! Vida x x x

Hey Sarah, really lovely meeting you too and thanks for the compliment, it means a lot coming from a great baker like you... I buy the 2.5 kilo bag of milk Lindt from Essential Ingredient and use that for almost everything I do... We mix it with cream and use it in the chocolate fountain and dip our fruits in... YUM!!! Oh Vida, I wish i had known it was your cake as several people asked if I knew who it belonged to - it was so good they wanted to say something, and I had to confess (between a handful of mushroom pate and a handful of fromage blanc) that I had no idea.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet you - thanks for the post last night, and you did a GREAT job at hiding any feeling of discomfort.

Thanks Grocer (Katie), I was very nervous and almost hid my food!!! I had a great time and I am VERY happy that my cake went down well. You and your husband were lovely and it was great meeting you, who knows maybe we will meet in Sydney next time?? Vida x x x

Well done Vida - sounds as if your food was a great success. What a lovely idea - shame all us UK food bloggers are so far away and can't join in.

Great to meet you Vida. Missed out on the cake, unfortunately had my fill on pizzas (with your secret sauce)and barramundi. Time got away from me and suddenly it was home time...

What lovely food Vida! And to think that everyone ate it before I got there. And in the end, I forgot (!!) to try your cake. Lovely meeting you.

Vida said...

Jack, lovely to put a face to your personality... I was wondering if we had met at Roger and Christie's xmas do??? I am sorry you missed the cake, next time... I can always bake another... See you on Carlisle and if I look daggy walking in my shorts or something be kind and pretend you didn't see me!!! Vida x

Duncan, lovely to meet you, what a catch you are with the macaroon skill... are we likely to see that recipe on your blog??? Sorry re: the cake, next time... I should have taken it around to offer but I was a bit intimidated, I know I don't always look it but I am shy deep down, I use humour to hide behind... we all have our insecurities right??? Anyway it was a good way to get out and about and it was so lovely to meet so many new people with a common interest... Vida x

Hi Vida,

Haloumi Parcels hereby annointed the delicacy award (beautifully presented). I'm glad you brought 'em out. It was lovely to meet you.

Kind Regards,

Josh.

Kosta's pretty much always at Mikoshi - he was that day. drop in and say hello

Vida said...

Michael, you are right. All I ever saw of Kosta was the blur that was he in his car as he zoomed up and down the steet morning and night... It was Penny that I saw and the boys... I will stop by next time but I hate beer and I am not partial to smoke either, I may have to sit inside whilst you sit outside!!! Love your photos and your enthusiasm for our great suburb!! Vida x

Vida - tried a tiny bit of your cake and loved it. Mr Sticky and I missed out on much of the food because we were cooking barramundi and roast vegie salad - there's an irony - LOL! But we did get to share a piece of pizza. What a hoot it was. I think we'll continue to do this don't you?

Vida said...

Stickyfingers, ABSOLUTELY!!! I am up for it on a regular basis... I was far too nervous as they first time but I can get into this in a big way... your food was outstanding... it's a great idea to get together and it's just wonderful to meet everyone... next time we will stay longer and eat harder, there's a plan!!!! Lovely to meet you both and I look forward to next time... Vida x x x

Hi Vida,

It was lovely to meet you on Monday night. I'm disappointed I didn't get around to tasting your very cake, but those haloumi and capsicum parcels were just gorgeous - like delicious little Chirstmas parcels! I also hope we will have another meet-up sometime in the future. :)
xx claire

Hi Vida, do you have an email address I can contact you on? X

Vida said...

Sure hon, Vida@primusonline.com.au. Beautiful to hear from you, was worried... X X X X X X X X

Vida said...

Hey Claire, was great meeting you too, it seemed a bit of a blur... I missed your muffins and am sorry about that... I was nervous about meeting everyone and a bit self conscious but I will unwind next time... I can bake that cake any old time, just name it and you can have your very own!!! Vida x

Ed said...

I missed the cake but liberated two of the Haloumi parcels - one for jackie as well - they were great. Thnaks for coming and here's to more in the future...

Vida, it was great to meet you. We had a barrel of laughs didn't we. We will know be forever connected due to "So You Think You Can Dance".

I didn't get to try the parcels or cake. I must have had a brain freeze because I didn't think of bringing a slice home. What was I thinking.

Vida said...

Damn it Thanh, I even offered!!!! And can I say I took great offence at the fact that you said no when I offered!!! Never mind, we can do it all again and just bring the same food so we can get it right this time, what do you say??? Vida x x x

Oh Vida... you make me giggle!

The presentation (especially the Halumi) is amazing

Vida said...

Anthony hello, thanks heaps... Maybe green and red capsicum for a xmas theme??? Even yellow and red??
I think you have been reading my blog... because I said that my downfall was presentation and I have been trying to work on it... I have confidence in the taste of my food but I struggle with making it look as good as it tastes but it sounds like I am making progress, thanks again... Wish you were in Melbourne to have joined us!! Vida x x x

thanh7580 said...

Did you offer? Gee my mind must have been elsewhere because I can't even remember it. Oh well, next time I will definitely grab a huge slice.

Hungry Hamster said...

Everything looks so good!! *jealous*
I didn't realize there was a meeting up (where have I been?!?)

I wasn't free on Monday night anyway. Plus, it would be very hard to think of what to bring! All the food looks fabulous, I'll feel intimidated hahaha!

Your haloumi cheese parcels looked gorgeous btw!

Vida said...

Thanh, YES I OFFERED, of course... I will bake another next time... had your muffins yesterday, added raspberries and white chocolate to half and they were yummy... thanks Vida x

Hungry Hamster, what a pity, maybe next time, anything you would have brought would have been greatly appreciated, everyone was easy going and very nice... Vida x

Vida! How well received your contributions were. They look wonderful. Why wasn't *I invited? Oh, that's right -- I'm geographically challenged. A great time was had by all, by the sound of it!

Vida said...

Chef Jules, you would have been at the top of my list but as it happens you speak the truth, geography was against us on this occassion but never say never... one day you and I shall meet and eat!!! Vida x x x P.S. thanks for visiting, it was such an unexpected surprise (not), I hope I am not too bossy??? x x x x

You guys are so lucky getting together like that. I am so jealous and wish that there was a NQ group up here. The food sounded awesome and those parcels of yours would have been fabulous.

Vida said...

Squishy, it was SOOOOOOOO great to meet other people with the same passion... You should try and organise something, surely there is more than one food blogger from Queensland?? Vida x
